Butler, 25, a fourth-year tackle out of Louisiana Tech, was selected by the Panthers in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4 defensive lineman has recorded 29 combined tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles on the 2019 season through 12 games entering today.

Butler can be seen punching the grounded one-time Pro-Bowler Doyle after the conclusion of the play.

The Butler ejection is just one of many tumultuous events occurring in Panthers Land as Carolina rethinks its organization. Longtime head coach Ron Rivera was fired earlier this season and the question about the starting quarterback of the future has continuously gone unanswered, with Cam Newton sidelined since Week 2 and undrafted gunslinger Kyle Allen not definitively the starter for the longterm.

Butler could be facing a suspension if the NFL deems his punch as inexcusable.
