Carolina Panthers head coach, Matt Rhule, said that quarterback Sam Darnold is getting an MRI on his shoulder.
Coach Matt Rhule also says that PJ Walker will be the one starting in place of Darnold until he is back and healthy. The Panthers have made it clear that's their primary concern right now.
The chances of the Panthers making the playoffs are low. If anything is wrong with Darnold expect the Panthers to be very cautious about this and possibly sit him out for a few weeks, if it's more severe, possibly the whole season. It's unclear whether Darnold is the future quarterback of the Carolina Panthers franchise. From some of the comments, it seems that there's a possibility that he isn't. Nonetheless, they want to get him back healthy and try to figure out their offense as they are now heading towards the back end of the season.
The Panthers just got back star running back Christian McCaffrey. They are hoping that Darnold doesn't have a serious injury and their offense can finally play the way that they want to.
After starting the season on the right note, Darnold has not looked good at all the past few weeks. He now has more interceptions than he does touchdowns and the Panthers are not winning games. Things don't look great and it's going to be even tougher if they don't get their quarterback back soon.
