There has been much speculation on how Cam Newton will perform in his first season with the New England Patriots. AJ Klein, who is a former teammate of Newton's, expressed his confidence in Newton having success with the Patriots.

“I know Cam is one of the… he’s a competitive person. Being around for my four years [in Carolina] and being able to compete against him the last three years (in New Orleans)… I know he’s going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder this year. He’s, when healthy, and I hope he remains healthy… he’s usually the best athlete on the field. That’s a scary thought, thought a guy that’s 6-6, 250-plus pounds,” Klein said. “He has arm strength, he has the ability to run the ball, he’s a dynamic player and he’s always a threat.”

From 2013-2016, Klein suited up alongside the Patriots' new QB when both of them were on the Carolina Panthers. Therefore, after countless battles in practice, Klein knows how talented the veteran quarterback can be when he's healthy. If he's healthy is the question though.

In the past two seasons, Newton has been sidelined for 16 games due to shoulder and foot injuries. However, he appears to be one-hundred percent healthy again and is as motivated as ever entering the 2020 season.

As for Klein, he was teammates with Newton when they both advanced to the Super Bowl with the Panthers in 2015. Fast forward to now and the veteran linebacker is with the Buffalo Bills, preparing himself to face Newton twice in the 2020 season. While Klein is on the rival team of the Patriots, there's a level of respect he still has for Newton.
