The New England Patriots' Cam NewtonBill Belichick partnership has been a match made in heaven so far.

Newton has had nothing but positive things to say about Belichick's style and work ethic. Belichick has previously lauded Newton's dedication, and he heaped more praise on the former NFL MVP for the leadership he has shown in the locker room:

“Cam does a great job of connecting with everybody, whether it’s his teammates, his receivers, guys on defense, other people in the organization,” Belichick said, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “Again, I think the captain voting — not that that’s the ultimate or final determination of leadership — but I think the fact that he has been here a pretty short amount of time and earned that type of respect and support from his teammates is pretty impressive.

The Patriots took a flier on Cam after he was released by the Carolina Panthers in March. That move has paid major dividends, with some of the on-field success likely related to the example Newton has been setting in Foxborough.

Teammates like Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry have noted Newton is relentless in terms of time spent on the practice field and in the film room. Belichick reiterated that idea on Friday:

“He’s in the building more than any player on the team, but he spends a lot of time talking and connecting and building relationships with those people,” Belichick said, via Florio. “I mean, he has tremendous leadership, so it’s very impressive.”

Newton has excelled as the Pats have gotten off to a 2-1 start.

Cam is completing over 68 percent of his passes, and he also has four rushing touchdowns through just three games.

Football fans wondered how Newton would replace Tom Brady as the leader of the franchise, but it seems the new QB has not missed a beat.
