New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is impressed with how fast Josh Gordon is learning the team's offense. The new Patriots receiver had two catches on his debut in New England's dominant 38-7 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Gordon was acquired from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick, which is a steal considering his talent. He will only become a bigger threat as he continues to learn this new offense. Belichick commended his work ethic earlier this week.

From Phil Perry of NBC Sports:

“Josh has worked hard,” Belichick said on a conference call Tuesday. “He's a smart kid. He's got quite a bit of experience. He's obviously played in a lot of different systems, different coordinators and so forth.

Josh Gordon's experience playing in lots of different systems, but it will be beneficial to him in New England. Belichick thinks some of the things he's learned under previous coaching staffs will translate well for the Patriots' offense.

“I think in one way or another he's probably experienced things that we're doing in one of those systems that he's been involved in. He's been able to pick things up quickly and has experience doing different things. It was good to get him out there,” Belichick continued.

Bill Belichick has a reputation for helping troubled players like Gordon straighten out by giving them consistency. It's too early to tell how successful this experiment will be though. The Patriots offense was firing on all cylinders on Sunday.

Rob Gronkowski suffered a minor ankle injury, but Julian Edelman will make his return in Week 5. However, teams won't get a look at their full potential until all three are at 100 percent.
