Tom Brady's departure from the New England Patriots after nearly two decades as the team's starting quarterback was one of the well-chronicled storylines of the NFL offseason.

But despite the tension that seemingly led to Brady signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former Pats signal-caller still wishes to see his old team prosper.

Brady said Thursday he wants everyone to succeed, including his former teammates in New England:

ā€œI wish everybody the best all the time,ā€ Brady said, via Ben Volin of theĀ Boston Globe. ā€œI don't ever wish for anyone to not perform at their best.ā€

The six-time Super Bowl champion has found his footing in Tampa.

Brady and the Buccaneers began the year at 3-2, but have since rattled off three straight wins. Brady himself has thrown for nearly 2,200 yards and 20 touchdowns against four interceptions, and the team's improving health in the past few weeks suggests Tampa Bay is only beginning to elevate its play.

The same cannot be said for the Patriots.

New England brought in former NFL MVP Cam Newton to be the quarterback as the franchise began life without Brady. Although Newton excelled in his first two games, it has been a struggle as of late.

The Patriots have dropped four straight games and have been beset by key injuries on the offensive line and at the skill positions.

Newton has struggled to generate offense amid said injuries, and his fumble late in the team's loss to the Buffalo Bills this past weekend cost the team a chance to tie or win the game.

New England is desperately hoping to get its season back on track. Brady hopes the Pats can find a way to do just that heading into the second half.
