The New England Patriots were able to secure their second consecutive win on Sunday night versus the Baltimore Ravens. Despite beating a talented Ravens squad and winning back-to-back games, Cam Newton believes the best is yet to come for the Patriots.

Via Steve Hewitt of the Boston Herald:

“I’m just trying to win so I can stay in good graces, because I do know that we haven’t peaked as a team, let alone peaked personally,” Newton said. “So for me, I’m just trying to get better each and every day, my job as a leader of this team, one of the leaders of this team, is to stay consistent, bring the juice as coach would say, and that’s what I’m trying to do daily.”

Following their win over Baltimore, New England now holds a mediocre 4-5 record through the first 10 weeks of the season. Given the success that the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins have had in 2020, the Patriots are in uncharted territory, sitting in third place in the AFC East.

With the Bills and Dolphins playing well, Newton and the Patriots have their work cut out for them. Even though the playoffs are extending to seven teams in each conference, New England still could find itself on the outside looking in. The Patriots are in 10th place in the AFC, two games behind a host of 6-3 squads.

It will be up to Newton to make sure the Patriots don't fall short of sneaking into the playoffs. However, for that to happen, Newton will need to improve through the air, as he threw his first touchdown pass since Week 3 in Week 10.

The last time the Patriots finished in third place or worse in their division was in 2000, which was Bill Belichick's first year with the organization. While many people have counted out New England, Newton is confident the team can find a groove in the final stretch of the season.
