Jacoby Brissett is the current backup quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and he once held the same position with the New England Patriots. During a podcast with Jason and Devin McCourty, Brissett spoke about being drafted and then traded from the Patriots.

Back in the 2016 NFL Draft, Brissett would be taken by New England with the No. 91 pick in the third round. However, for unknown reasons, the North Carolina State product didn't want to be taken by the Patriots.

Nonetheless, he would be thrown into a starting role to begin the season while Tom Brady served a suspension. Brissett would start in two games, throwing for 400 yards and zero touchdowns. He would also rush for 83 yards and a touchdown in his rookie season.

Then, with Brady returning, Brissett wouldn't be needed under center for the rest of the season. After his rookie season with the Patriots, Brissett would be traded to the Colts in exchange for Phillip Dorsett. The Colts acquired Brissett due to the uncertainty surrounding Andrew Luck's injury entering the 2017 season.

Despite n0t wanting to join New England at first, it appears that Brissett warmed up to his teammates in Foxborough. But once he was traded just a season later, Brissett was introduced to the business side of the NFL.

Earlier this offseason, there were rumors that the Colts could trade Brissett once they signed Philip Rivers in free agency. As a matter of fact, there were rumors that Brissett could be traded back to the Patriots.

Of course, that isn't feasible with New England signing Cam Newton on Sunday. While he remains with Indianapolis, Brissett was taught that he could be headed elsewhere at any moment in his career.
