New England Patriots' QB2 Jarret Stidham is reportedly inactive ahead of the team's opening game against the Miami Dolphins. 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton was recently named the team's presumptive starter nearing the conclusion of training camp proceedings.

ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the list of inactive players for several Week 1 games on Twitter:

The sophomore quarterback recently hurt his hip in training camp, but wasn’t listed on any of the injury reports during the week. The setback ultimately limited his performance over the summer which then handed the reins to Cam Newton as the team's primary playmaker for the upcoming season. The former Heisman Trophy winner's veteran presence and tireless work ethic put him head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.

His confirmed absence now puts him with rookie linebackers Josh Uche and Cassh Maluia, first-year tight end Dalton Keene, and third-year offensive tackle Korey Cunningham as the Patriots' coupe staying on the sidelines due to injuries. Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer will now move up the depth chart and backstop Cam Newton in lieu of Stidham's absence.

All eyes will be on the former Carolina Panther as he was entrusted by head coach Bill Belichick to fill in the shoes left by long-time quarterback Tom Brady. He will aim to lead a team back to the top of the AFC East division despite inheriting a depleted roster.

Despite the odds, Cam Newton is ready to make things work and get the job done for the Patriots as he is set to turn over a new leaf, this time in Foxborough.
