Jason McCourty and the New England Patriots are fresh off of winning Super Bowl 53 against the Los Angeles Rams. It was a major statement by the Patriots, proving that they are still the team to beat and that even with Tom Brady getting older, they are not going anywhere.

Defensively, the Patriots held the Rams to just three points in the Super Bowl. That kind of performance was impressive, as was the AFC Championship Game performance against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. A lot of their defensive success had to do with their defensive back play.

According to a report from the NBC Sports, McCourty would like to return to the Patriots next season. He is set to hit free agency this offseason, but staying in New England would be his first choice.

“First and foremost, if I could be back in New England and all of that works out, that would be awesome,” Jason continued. “That way it wouldn’t be the third consecutive year I had to move my family. That would be an advantage. But at the same time you realize how much of this is a business and how much of this isn’t dictated by (the feeling), ‘Hey, I just want to play here with my brother and the guys I built a relationship with.’ There’s so much more that goes into it.”

McCourty put together a solid all-around season in 2018. He racked up 70 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble, an interception, and 10 defended passes.

At 31 years old, McCourty still has a lot of football left to play. New England relies on him and his brother, Devin, quite a bit in the defensive backfield and it wouldn't be surprising to see them prioritize bringing him back.

Expect to hear news about McCourty fairly early on this offseason. We should know his future with the Patriots at some point soon.
