During an appearance on NFL Network's “Good Morning America,” NFL legend Jerry Rice was asked which wide receiver in the league currently has the best footwork at his position. He expressed that New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was his choice.

Rice pointed out that Edelman's footwork allows him to create separation and get open for Tom Brady, which makes it so that almost nobody can guard him one-on-one. In fact, Rice took it a step further and stated that when matching up with him, ‘you're not going to be able to cover him.'

“You're not going to be able to cover him,” Rice explained of Edelman. “You can't do it. He's going to be able to get separation from you and make the catch.”

Another aspect of Edelman's game that Rice praised was the physicality that he plays with on the field. Rice believes that Edelman throws his body all over the field' and that brings an edge about him that makes him a difficult cover.

“What I like about him too is his physicality,” Rice added. “He throws his body all over the field.”

It's difficult to pick who has the best footwork in the NFL given how there are many talented options to choose from. However, it's difficult to argue with the person who is considered the greatest wide receiver in league history.

So far this season, Edelman has appeared in 9 games for the Patriots and has recorded 63 receptions, 663 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns with a career-best 70% catch percentage. The 33-year-old is still playing high-level football.
