Cam Newton prefers to have a laid back approach to how he encounters his teammates, teasing them when he gets a chance. With the New England Patriots preparing for Week 1, Julian Edelman shared how he's handled Newton's antics this offseason, per Mac Cerullo of CNHI Sports Boston.

When Tom Brady departed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, Edelman lost his best friend on the team. Besides Brady, the Buccaneers were able to lure Rob Gronkowski — who Brady and Edelman were close with — out of retirement.

But after months of Jarrett Stidham figuring to be the starter, the Patriots signed Newton. Ever since his arrival in New England, Newton and Edelman have seemingly formed a bond on and off of the field.

To no one's surprise, Newton was announced as the starter in Week 1 and he was voted an offensive captain. The insertion of Newton under center should allow Edelman to remain the No. 1 option in New England's passing attack. Even at 34 years old, Edelman is still a reliable pass-catcher for the Patriots.

Throughout training camp, videos of Newton dancing and joking with teammates have been displayed on social media. Newton just seems like an easy-going guy that knows when to flip his competitive switch when needed.

The former NFL MVP has brought a different energy to the Patriots and is motivated to prove he's still a lethal signal-caller in the NFL. At the same time, it's safe to say he and Edelman have built noticeable chemistry in their short time together.
