The New England Patriots are 8-0 on the season. They have dominated every step of the way. However, they don't appear to be a finished product.

Even with an undefeated record, no team is perfect. That appears to be how head coach Bill Belichick sees it. After embarrassing the New York Jets 33-0, New England went out and traded for star wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

Now it appears they have interest in another very talented pass catcher, tight end Tyler Eifert from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Patriots wanting another big name should not really come as a surprise to anyone. They never seem to be 100% happy with the product they have.

Going after a tight end is especially not surprising. New England benefited from having Rob Gronkowski there for years. While there, he was the most productive tight end in the NFL.

Now that he retired though, the production at the position has been drastically down. Through eight games, the Patriots have just 14 receptions from their tight ends, scoring just one time.

That comes from a combination of four different tight ends, with the high being six from Ryan Izzo.

Meanwhile, Eifert isn't having a great year in Cincinnati. He has 23 receptions for 192 yards and one touchdown. Still though, the numbers are better than anything New England has. You also can't blame him for struggling on an 0-8 team.

Most importantly for Eifert, he has stayed healthy. He has appeared in all eight games so far this year. That's following appearing in just four in 2018 and two in 2017. Now that he's healthy, maybe a change of scenery would help him return to the elite tight end he was at one point in his career.

If nothing else, he would give the Patriots an improvement at the position and a really solid red zone presence. Now they just have to get that asking price down.
