The New England Patriots are 2-0. The New York Jets are 0-2. When they face each other Week 3, the money will be on the side of those residing in Foxborough.

According to Dave Purdum of ESPN, the line has moved all the way to the Patriots being a 22.5 favorite.

The original line wasn't set at 22.5; before the Jets' appearance on “Monday Night Football,” it was at 18. Then backup quarterback Trevor Siemian suffered a season-ending ankle injury, now, Luke Falk (a three-year journeyman) is the starting quarterback of the Jets.

New York's unraveling from starting Siemian to Falk all starts with a four-letter word: mono. That's the disease their starter Sam Darnold is suffering from. A highly contagious one, the Jets aren't letting him play until he's healthy. That's one big hit to their chances of beating New England.

While it's unknown if Pro Bowl inside linebacker C.J. Mosley or No. 3 pick and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams will play, even if they do, that line may not change much.

Why? When we saw a healthy Jets team (Week 1), they didn't exactly get off to a hot start in Adam Gase's debut as the New York head coach. In fact, despite causing four turnovers against the Buffalo Bills at home, they lost.

However, the main reason why the odds are increasingly in New England's favor is that they have gotten off to a hot start after winning the Super Bowl. Through two games, the Patriots have won by a total of 76-3. They have a stacked roster and will host the Jets, who struggle to beat them wherever they play.
