The New England Patriots normally have a very complete roster. After tight end Rob Gronkowski decided to retire, the team needed a pass catcher. The team did its part in addressing the need for a receiver by visiting Ole Miss' presumed first-round talent, AJ Brown.

Brown is not the first projected receiver off the board, but his talents would offer tremendous value for the Patriots with the last pick in the first round. New England has a lot of talent on offense; however, losing Josh Gordon and Gronk leaves the team with an urgent need to find reinforcements for Tom Brady.

Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan offer solid production, but the team could use another receiver to make plays on the outside as well as over the top, where Brown thrives. Brown is an incredible talent with great route-running ability as well as elite athleticism. The Patriots' meeting with him is eye-opening, considering they have not taken a wide receiver in the first round since Terry Glenn in 1996.

Brown might play in his early NFL years with Brady, who turns any receiver into a known player in the league. Brady would likely love to have Brown on board to fill the void Gronkowski is leaving behind. Gronk is as irreplaceable as players get, but a promising pass-catching prospect such as Brown could fit very well on a team that is always in contention for a Super Bowl trophy.
