A new report suggests that New England Patriots offensive lineman Brian Schwenke has been signed to a one-year contract extension.

According to the Boston Globe, this is the first deal Schwenke has made since he's been on injured reserve as of November 6th of last year.

The Globe also has more details about the financials of his signing.

“Via NFLPA records, the deal could reach $895,000 with incentives, with a base salary of $805,000, $30,000 for offseason workouts, and $60,000 in per-game roster bonus ($3,750 per game that he is on the active roster). The cap number is $686,250 due to the minimum salary benefit. Schwenke was signed by the Patriots last September after five seasons with the Tennessee Titans.”

In addition to giving Brian Schwenke a contract extension, the Patriots have also reportedly added another coach to the roster. WEEI-FM has the scoop on the new addition to the sidelines.

“Youngstown State offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo is joining the Patriots as an assistant offensive line coach. This would seem to indicate Cole Popovich will be promoted for next season, as he's worked alongside Dante Scarnecchia for a few years. With five coaches departing, there are still more additions that need to be made.”

It should be interesting to see if Brian Schwenke is able to keep the “legacy” of the Patriots going as he goes into the new season. It should also be interesting to see how Carmen Bricillo does on the professional field as opposed to the college field.
