The New England Patriots have been the biggest spenders on the first day of free agency. With a glaring need at the wide receiver position, the Patriots have come to terms with Nelson Agholor, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The impending deal for Agholor is reportedly worth $26 million over two years, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Despite the struggles of Cam Newton, the majority of the issues in the Patriots' offense stemmed from the lack of reliable pass-catchers. After the season-ending injury to Julian Edelman, the Patriots were left with Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrd, and N'Keal Harry as their top wide receivers.

As for Agholor, the USC product was able to have a breakout season in his lone year with the Las Vegas Raiders. After a tumultuous five-years in Philadelphia, Agholor shined in a prominent role with the Raiders.

Agholor finished last season with 48 receptions, for a career-best 896 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He finished with a career-best 18.7 yards per reception. The ability to stretch the field helped land him a new contract.

The Patriots have been extremely active on the first day of free agency. For a team who usually aren't known as big spenders, today has been a revelation.

New England already agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with Jonnu Smith, giving them a talented tight end. They later added Jalen Mills and Matt Judon to help the defense. Despite the additions of Smith and Agholor, it doesn't seem like Bill Belichick is done reshaping the offense for 2021.
