N'Keal Harry has requested a trade from the New England Patriots. After getting selected in the first round by the Patriots, Harry has never been able to really find his footing in New England.

This prompted a highly public demand for a trade, via the Patriots receiver's agent Jamal Tooson:

While frustrated players asking for trades isn't exactly groundbreaking in a professional sports league, the manner at which it was executed by N'Keal Harry's camp was called out by none other than NFL insider Adam Schefter. The ESPN veteran was vocal on his podcast about why trying to force the Patriots' hand was the wrong move:

Via CBS Boston:

“Now, again, this, I don’t know was the wisest move that N’Keal Harry could have made,” Schefter said of the Patriots WR's trade demand. “If he wants a trade, it would be very simple for him to go into the office of head coach Bill Belichick and privately tell him that he thinks it’s in the best interest of everybody to move on.”

“But he did it publicly. And my guess would be that if you want out of New England, the way to do that would not be through the media, that if you’re going to do it that way, you hurt your chances and put a bull’s-eye on yourself for the summer.”

“And so I don’t think N’Keal Harry is going to get traded any time soon. I do think he has basically invited more attention and scrutiny on himself. But I don’t think he’s done anything to further his cause of wanting out of New England.”

It's tough to argue against Schefter's logic. It's no surprise that N'Keal Harry and the Patriots eventually do part ways. But timing it in this manner, in an attempt at a power move on the powerhouse Patriots, seems like a losing gambit.
