The New England Patriots' Bill Belichick is an often misunderstood individual.

To the general public and the media, Belichick comes across as aloof and miserable. After all, he's been conducting the same type of postgame press conference after every game for the past 20 seasons. It seems as if Belichick is just miserable talking to people.

However, although Belichick may not be the most friendly coach, his results are undeniable. The 67-year-old head coach has won six Super Bowls and hasn't had a losing season since 2000 — his first season as Patriots head coach.

Rob Gronkowski played for Belichick for nine seasons until his retirement after the 2018 season. The former Patriots tight end clarified what Belichick's exact relationship is with players.

Via Barstool Radio:

“I would say in that building, it’s kind of a work relationship with every player and Coach Belichick, for sure. That’s how he likes it,” Gronkowski said. “I feel like that’s how he believes he can keep the organization going. “You’ve gotta be able to have, I wouldn’t say control, but you have to be able to manage 53 players, 53 grown men. It’s kind of always a work relationship. … But you learn so much. He’s the best coach hands down. He knows football like no other.”

Although there have been several former Patriots players who have complained about how the franchise handles their relationships with players, it's hard to argue against success.

The bottom line is, Belichick is the most successful coach of the Super Bowl era. And although the Patriots aren't in the Super Bowl this season, they've shown no signs of slowing down in recent years.

You can't argue against Belichick's way.
