Since announcing his retirement from football, some people insist that Rob Gronkowski will make his return to the New England Patriots this year. The retired tight end will be announcing something on August 27th.

His announcement is not expected to be about a return to the NFL. But it undoubtedly will spark rumors of him catching passes from Tom Brady again.

The announcement will be made at an invitation-only event in New York City which sounds like he's hosting a party. Would anyone expect anything different? It's likely that he will reveal the “next chapter” in his life at the private occasion.

Gronkowski decided to walk away from football after spending nine seasons with the Patriots organization. During those nine seasons, the energetic tight end accumulated 521 receptions, 7,861 yards, and 79 touchdowns.

Considering those numbers, Gronkowski had just 16 fewer receptions than Hall of Famer John Stallworth. He also caught five more touchdowns than Antonio Brown—who also came into the NFL in 2010.

During his playing career, Gronkowski accepted the image of being a playful but daunting player to go against. Ask every defensive coordinator in the NFL, and they'd mention Gronk's name in the group of players who were the toughest to gameplan against.

At 6-foot-6, nearly 270 pounds, the longtime Patriots tight end was deceptively fast and had phenomenal hands for his size. Unfortunately, injuries took a toll on Gronkowski throughout his career; playing in all 16 games just once in his career.

The next chapter of his life is yet to be determined, but if it involves a tell-all book, take my money.
