Stephen Gostkowski has been a money kicker for the New England Patriots throughout his career. While he hasn't been hyped up as a huge part of the team winning Super Bowls, teams rely on their kickers in clutch situations all the time. Now, the Patriots will be without Gostkowski for the rest of the season.

Speaking out about the injury, Stephen A. Smith had some bold things to say about it, going as far as to say that it will cost the team another ring.

While Smith may have gone a bit overboard with this statement, he is right that Gostkowski's absence will be a tough thing to overcome for the Patriots. There are very few kickers in the league who teams have complete confidence in making late kicks in clutch moments. Gostkowski is one of those guys.

New England went out and signed Mike Nugent to take over kicking duties. They are also still looking into bringing in another option, which signals that they don't have 100 percent faith in Nugent.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick still have confidence that they can make a Super Bowl run. All it means is that they need to put the ball in the end zone and not have to kick field goals. Obviously, that's a bit of a joke, but it makes sense as well.

Gostkowski is going to be missed by the Patriots the rest of the season, but his injury does not mean that New England will miss out on a Super Bowl.
