New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been able to maintain his status as one of the NFL's best at his position for at least the last decade. However, at 42 years old, the 20-year NFL veteran has failed to accomplish one thing for the first time since 2008 — a year that Brady sat out in all but one game due to injury: He didn't make the Pro Bowl.

With 14 Pro Bowls to his name, Brady failed to add number 15 to his resume this year. The annual NFL Pro Bowl rosters were released on Tuesday and Brady was not included.

Instead, the AFC will feature Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans.

Depending on how much longer he decides to play, Brady will be tied with Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Bruce Matthews and Merlin Olsen for the most Pro Bowl selections of all time (14).

Granted, it has been a down year for Tom Brady and the Patriots offense in general. Despite ranking eighth in the NFL in points per game with 26.6, the Patriots have struggled to score against top teams. A mix of injury and inexperience has really hindered an offense that was already being led by a 42-year-old quarterback.

This year, the three-time MVP has completed 60.1 percent of his passes (a career low as a starter) for 3,565 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

As a whole, the Patriots are 11-3 on the season and sit atop the AFC East. Next week the Patriots will face the Buffalo Bills as New England tries to clinch the division for the 11th straight year.
