The New England Patriots simply couldn't keep up with a motivated team that embraced the underdog role in the Philadelphia Eagles last February in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady and company had the ideal opportunity to add another Vince Lombardi Trophy to an already packed trophy case in New England, but it just wasn't meant to be and now questions surround Brady's future.
Brady will turn 41 years old in August and although he's still playing at a very high level, Father Time catches up to everyone at some point. The superstar quarterback recently said he might play until his 45, but his former teammate Willie McGinest thinks it'll take one more ring for him to walk away from the game, via WEEI.
“I think there will be a walkoff,” he said. “If he wins this year, a Super Bowl, I think it won’t be 45 years old. I think he will walk off and say, ‘The game has been amazing to me and now I am going to figure something else out.'”
After endless speculation throughout the NFL offseason following the team's Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski, and Brady are back for the 2018 campaign. It's uncertain how long this talented trio will keep it going in New England, but for the time being, the Patriots are still the team to beat in the AFC.
However, this time around Brady's targets in the passing game have changed a bit with Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks suiting up elsewhere. New England is no stranger to change and being to continue to play at a high level as that may be no different in 2018 unless this is year Brady starts to show signs of slowing down.
