The New England Patriots made a surprising move on Tuesday to trade wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams. All the speculation on the trade front in New England surrounded Rob Gronkowski's future with the team, but it was Cooks that was ultimately sent elsewhere.

With Cooks now on his way to Los Angeles, some have wondered whether the Patriots might be targeting Odell Beckham Jr with their draft assets. Although New England may have the assets to get a deal done with the New York Giants, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora says the team isn't preparing to put together a trade package for the superstar wide receiver.

Over the past couple of weeks, it seemed as if Beckham could be traded to the Rams. Los Angeles was rumored to have shown considerable interest in acquiring the 25-year-old wideout ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft.

With the Rams bringing in Cooks, Los Angeles is now reportedly out of the running to land Beckham making things that much more interesting moving forward. Beckham sweepstakes will continue leading up to the draft on April 27th with the Giants' rumored price tag being two first-round picks.

Along with the Patriots parting ways with Cooks in exchange for draft picks, the team is reportedly not interested in trading Gronkowski following the deal with Los Angeles. Gronkowski's immediate future has been uncertain with talk of him wanting to retire to pursue acting and trade rumors surfacing, but now New England appears content to keep him.
