New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski still hasn’t gotten that restructured deal that the Pats have reportedly been working on for the past couple of months. And with training camp just around the corner, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Gronk holdout until he gets that deal all sorted out.

But Adam Schefter of ESPN says that no holdout will in fact happen. Instead, Gronkowski is expected to report for the start of Patriots training camp on July 25 with or without that deal.

Gronkowski is set to make $8 million in base salary this season, which is still a relative bargain compared to his on-field production. He’s coming off another outstanding year in 2017 as he had 69 catches for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns.

Gronkowski earned over $10 million last season on a reworked deal which had added incentives for him to earn more money. He banked $5.5 million for hitting his incentive to make First-Team All-Pro.

Despite sitting out voluntary workouts this offseason, Gronk did attend mandatory minicamp as was reported, so chances are he shows up again even without his new deal.

A team executive recently floated around the idea that Gronkowski’s lack of a deal means he’s still available for a trade. The Patriots have reportedly shopped Gronk this offseason, so it won’t be a complete surprise if they do still trade him.

But the fact that Gronkowski is not planning to hold out despite the absence of his deal should speak to his commitment to play for the Patriots this season, which makes a possible trade seem unlikely at this point.
