Jaxson Hayes of the New Orleans Pelicans was finally hit with his sentence following an arrest over a domestic violence call in July of 2021.

The Pelicans big man got into a physical altercation with Los Angeles police officers responding to a DV call in the wee hours of the morning on July 28, 2021. He later pleaded no contest back in February to misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and resisting an officer.

Hayes does manage to avoid jail time, but will instead serve three years of probation alongside months worth of community service.

New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes was sentenced Tuesday to three years of probation, 450 hours of community service and a year of weekly domestic violence classes for a scuffle with officers responding to a domestic violence call last summer in Los Angeles.

Jaxson Hayes got into a scuffle with police officers who requested for him to vacate the residence he was staying at in order to question the woman inside, his girlfriend, who made the call. Hayes was hit twice with a stun gun and managed to injure an officer during the ensuing altercation.

Hayes told officers the woman was his girlfriend and that she had been “throwing some stuff” at him while they argued.

Hayes was treated at a hospital after the altercation. An officer thrown against a wall by Hayes was treated for an elbow injury.

The Pelicans center will reportedly attend the year-long domestic violence classes virtually while his community service will be conducted from his place of residence and not the LA area.
