Things continue to get from bad to worse for JJ Redick this season. The New Orleans Pelicans have just announced that the veteran sharpshooter will be out indefinitely after undergoing a non-surgical procedure on his right foot.

This statement on JJ Redick comes directly from the Pelicans via Twitter:

From a statistical vantage point, it can't be ignored or denied that JJ Redick has fallen off a cliff this season and is currently averaging just 8.7 points in 18.6 minutes per contest. Those are the fewest minutes he's logged since his third year in the NBA and his lack of playing time has clearly had an adverse effect on his production.

It is no secret that the 6-foot-3 combo guard does not figure significantly in the rotation of first-year Pelicans coach Stan Van Gundy. JJ Redick has been nothing more than a reserve player for SVG, and his usage rate has dropped significantly compared to last season.

As such, JJ Redick has been at the center of several trade rumors.  There have been a number of teams that have shown some interest in the 36-year-old, but at this point, there have been no concrete developments in a possible move away from New Orleans.

It remains to be seen if this recent development surrounding JJ Redick's foot injury with the Pelicans will have a significant impact on his trade value.

It is worth noting, however, that JJ Redick is currently on an expiring deal. He may not provide long-term value for any team that trades for him (his short-term worth has also been put into question due to this recent injury), but at least the structure of his current contract is something that might be enough to pique the interest of opposing teams.
