New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday has re-signed with Nike on a new multi-year footwear and apparel endorsement deal, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

Jrue Holiday is now the best player on the Pelicans in the post-Anthony Davis era. The All-NBA defender is excited about the players new general manager David Griffin has surrounded him with in New Orleans.

Griffin acquired Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Davis trade. The Pelicans can’t wait to see Lonzo and Holiday wreak havoc together in the backcourt, as both guys are really good defenders.

New Orleans also traded for Derrick Favors from the Utah Jazz, signed JJ Redick in free agency and drafted Zion Williamson, Jaxson Haynes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Pelicans will go as far as Holiday and Williamson can take them. In a tough Western Conference, New Orleans are considered dark horse candidates to make the playoffs.

Nothing is set in stone, but the Pelicans’ projected starting lineup is Holiday, Redick, Ingram, Williamson and Favors. Ball, Hart, Hayes and veteran E’Twaun Moore is expected to anchor the bench unit.

The Pelicans have good depth at each position, so head coach Alvin Gentry will have multiple lineups to use throughout the regular season.

Last season, Holiday averaged 21.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 67 games.
