The New Orleans Pelicans will be without point guard Jrue Holiday for the second straight game on Wednesday when they take on the Chicago Bulls.

Holiday is out with a left elbow contusion. He didn't play on Monday either versus the Utah Jazz, a game the Pelicans lost by two points.

The Pelicans are 12-25 on the season, 14th in the Western Conference standings.

Holiday has appeared in 34 games this season for the Pelicans. He’s averaging 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans and Bulls should be an evenly matched game without Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, JJ Redick and Derrick Favors will have to step their games up for New Orleans to defeat Chicago, who is 13-24 on the season.

Jrue's name has come up in trade rumors recently since the Pelicans appear to be on their way to missing the playoffs. New Orleans, publicly and privately, has made it clear they want to keep the 29-year-old guard this season and see what he looks like with No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson on the court. Williamson has yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery, though it’s unknown when he will make his regular season NBA debut for the team.

Holiday is making $26.1 million this season. He’s owed $25.4 million next season and has a player option worth $26.3 million for the 2021-22 campaign.
