The New Orleans Pelicans endured another disappointing campaign in 2020/21, failing to make the Play-In Tournament with a 31-41 record. Guard Lonzo Ball meanwhile, hits free agency this summer. He was linked to a potential trade deadline move in March, but the former Laker ultimately stayed in NOLA.

Ball recently spoke out on his future with the organization, per ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

Ball missed 17 games for the Pelicans this year, but he was solid when available. The 23-year-old averaged 14.6 points and 5.7 assists per night, serving as one of the team's top primary facilitators.

He clearly believes that New Orleans has the right pieces in place to succeed, which is a valid statement. Zion Williamson is a superstar, while Brandon Ingram is also a pure scorer. Although Zion's dominance hasn't translated into wins quite yet, the future looks promising.

As for Ball, he should be a hot commodity in free agency. A point guard who can score and pass the ball at a high level is always valuable. The Pelicans could also go all out to retain his services, especially after Ball made it clear that he wants to stay with the organization.

With a budding partnership alongside Williamson, it would be smart for the Pels to award Lonzo Ball with a new deal, but we'll have to see what happens.
