The New Orleans Pelicans have landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft lottery.

The Pelicans are widely expected to draft Duke star Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, which is on June 20.

All eyes now turn to Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis.

Davis, of course, has requested a trade from the Pelicans. Will AD change his mind now that Zion is on his way to New Orleans? Only time will tell. Davis can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020. If Davis stays and the Pelicans take Zion, New Orleans would have Jrue Holiday, Elfrid Payton, Williamson, Davis and Julius Randle as a starting lineup. Not bad.

Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season at Duke. The high-flyer shot 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The last time the Pelicans had the No. 1 overall pick, they took — yeah, you guessed it — Davis. AD has career averages of 23.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 466 games in New Orleans. He's a six-time All-Star and one of the best players in the league when healthy.
