The New Orleans Pelicans continue to fluctuate in and out of the win column just as they have over the 2017-18 NBA season thus far. Not much was different tonight in their heartbreaking loss to the high-powered Houston Rockets.

Fortunately, fans were at least treated to their second triple-double performance of the year thanks to veteran point guard Rajon Rondo. According to Pelicans PR, this is the first time in franchise history that teammates have recorded a triple-double in the same season.

Rajon Rondo finished the game with 13 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds. Perhaps even more impressive was that he did most of his damage from the 3-point line by going 3-of-5.

His stellar outing comes just over a month after superstar center DeMarcus Cousins recorded his spectacular triple-double of 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. The only difference was the Pelicans managed to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers that night.

Triple-doubles aside, it has been a frustrating year for the Pelicans. For a team with two of the most talented big men in the league, one would not expect them to be hovering at just .500 nearly 30 games into the year. Needless to say, if the Pelicans plan on making a run in this year's playoffs, they will need to avoid facing one of the Western Conference juggernauts in the first round.
