Collectible trading cards are more of a novelty in sports these days. Unless your name is Zion Williamson.

Zion's rookie card with the New Orleans Pelicans recently sold for $100,000 on eBay, per Darren Rovell of The Action Network.

It would appear the hype and marketability surrounding Zion Williamson knows no bounds, even in the midst of a three-month NBA hiatus.

The Pelicans rising star has made plenty of news as of late, in more ways than one. Recently, Williamson was featured in a trailer for NBA 2K21 on the new PlayStation 5, which is set to be released later this year.

Williamson also gained another personal win a little more than a week ago. The former Duke star was granted temporary stay in a lawsuit from Prime Sports Marketing company president Gina Ford. Zion had previously been ordered to testify.

While the Pelicans forward has very little NBA experience under his belt, he is already spurring quite a bit of excitement in the Bayou.

Zion missed close to four moths of action at the start of the year after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in October. The initial timeline for return was six to eight weeks, but Williamson ended up not making his NBA debutĀ  the until January.

The No. 1 overall pick looked to make up for lost time in a hurry. Williamson was averaging 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in under 30 minutes per game through his first 19 appearances.

New Orleans will be heading to Orlando for the resumption of play with an outside shot at reaching the playoffs. The Pelicans are 3.5 games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth and final playoff spot, and they will have eight games to make up the deficit. There is also the chance they could reach the postseason as part of a play-in tournament.

In the meantime, Zion ā€” even in quarantine ā€” is one of the hottest commodities in the NBA.
