The New Orleans Pelicans have been hot lately, and Zion Williamson had a perfect first half in Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Zion was on fire in the first half and didn't miss a shot, but the Pelicans went into the break the Mavs by four, 69-65.
For what it's worth, the No.1 overall pick in last year's draft has been on a tear lately. He has scored at least 20 or more points in each of his last three games prior to Friday, as the Pelicans have begun to figure things out.
Entering the showdown against the Mavs, New Orleans' record was at 11-13 going. They won six of their past 10 contests and were just one game back of the ninth seed, so the playoffs might be a possibility.
Zion Williamson only played in 24 games last season after his injury and the Pelicans decided to ease him back into action. This 2019-20 season, he's averaging 23.8 points with 7.0 boards and has been a huge reason for the recent success of New Orleans.
It's not every day that somebody goes perfect from the field in a half, and Zion became the first player in Pelicans history to accomplish the feat.
Zion and Brandon Ingram have been the heartbeat of New Orleans, and there's a real possibility that Williamson makes an appearance at the All-Star Game in a reserve role in just his second year in the league. For what it's worth, Mt. Zion is in the Top 6 of the All-Star voting for frontcourt players in the West.
