In case you haven't been paying much attention, New Orleans Pelicans Zion Williamson has been on an absolute tear of late. So much so, that he has made a bit of NBA history by putting up some never-before-seen numbers.

According to NBA on ESPN on Twitter, Zion is the only player in the history of the league to have managed these type of numbers:

Given how The Pelicans youngster has been playing recently, this does not come as a surprise. Over his past five games, the second-year phenom has put up averages of 28.4 points (on 69.6 percent shooting), 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. What jumps out here is his field-goal rate, which over the past five contests, is just a tad below 70 percent. For what it's worth, he's averaging 61.5 percent from the field throughout the season.

Needless to say, Williamson knows how to get the ball in the basket and he does so at such an efficient rate. If there was any doubt as to whether or not the 2019 first overall pick has lived up to all the hype surrounding him even before he stepped foot on an NBA court, then these numbers should quell all of them.

It is worth noting, however, that Williamson amassed these numbers over his first 50 games. That is, this also includes his production from his rookie year last season for New Orleans. This fact speaks volumes of how consistent Zion has been throughout his fledgling NBA career.

Unfortunately for the Pelicans, their young star's tremendous play has yet to translate to a winning record for the team. At 12-15, New Orleans currently sits outside the playoffs picture in the West at 11th place.
