John Schuhmann of NBA.com does an annual survey of the NBA's rookies, and the results are in for the 2019-20 season. The first query presented was about who they thought would win this upcoming season's Rookie of the Year award, and as expected, New Orleans Pelicans phenom Zion Williamson came out on top.

However, by garnering 35% of the total votes, the first overall pick's margin was actually a bit smaller than most would have expected, with Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant coming in a relatively close second with 27% of the votes.

This could be a case of some of his fellow rookies seeing something in Morant that most people may have overlooked, because at this point, Williamson is widely regarded as the favorite to bag ROY honors once it is all said and done this season.

Don't get us wrong, though, Morant is no slouch. However, Williamson is a once-in-a-generation type of talent, and he should not only come out with the best debut campaign among all rookies, but he will also likely stand out this season as one of the most promising prospects in the entire league.

Nevertheless, we've seen crazier things in the past, so anything can still happen. What we are certain of, however, is that this is going to be a very exciting season ahead for such a talent-packed rookie class.
