The Zion Williamson era for the New Orleans Pelicans is off to a flying start.

In his NBA debut on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks, Williamson threw down a monster one-handed dunk, bringing the Pelicans bench to their feet.

NBA fans are going to be seeing this a lot this season. The Pelicans are so thankful to have Zion Williamson carry the franchise in the post-Anthony Davis era.

In his lone season at Duke, Williamson put on an absolute show. The high-flyer averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line.

It's going to be fun to watch Williamson in the open court with guards Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball by his side. Both Holiday and Lonzo are special passers and elite defenders. New Orleans wants to see Holiday and Ball cause havoc on defense, which will lead to transition buckets for Zion.

For the Pelicans to make the playoffs this season, Williamson and Holiday have to produce at a high-level every night. The Western Conference is going to be a bloodbath at the top. However, there are some around the league who believe the Pelicans could sneak into the postseason as a lower seed.
