Phillip Lindsay and the Denver Broncos have mutually agreed to part ways on Thursday morning. The Broncos had placed a restricted free agent tag on Lindsay, making teams hesitant in making any offers. Lindsay's departure will be missed by Denver, as Lindsay finished with 2,550 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in his three-year career for the Broncos.

Lindsay is a Pro Bowl running back who is more than capable of providing production for any team. His small frame prevents him from being a workhorse, however, he can be a viable option in a committee.

A few franchises stick out as potential suitors for the three-year veteran. He should be able to land on a new squad sooner, rather than later, as Lindsay should be a cheap option this offseason.

With a Phillip Lindsay free agency set to start, here are the three best destinations for the talented running back.

Phillip Lindsay Jets

The New York Jets are currently re-building their roster, as they finished 31st in the league last year. They have a plethora of draft picks, a ton of cap space, and a new head coach attempting to build a new regime in New York. It's unclear what the plan is at running back for this franchise, but Lindsay could be a nice bridge running back until they find a better option down the road.

The Jets' running back group is rather thin right now, however, they have a good shot at building a decent committee during the re-build. Ty Johnson had a few solid games last season, while some believe La'Michael Perine still has potential as well. Bringing Lindsay into the mix would allow for all three running backs to rotate, keeping fresh legs on the field at all times.

Phillip Lindsay 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have been using a running back committee for quite some time now. In fact, it's apart of Kyle Shanahan's philosophy. The 49ers' offense struggled last year, as they dealt with injuries all season long.

This would be a great fit for Lindsay. He'd fit right into the 49ers scheme and potentially provide a boost in the run game San Francisco was missing last year. Raheem Mostert is aging, JaMycal Hasty is still considered a prospect, and Jeff Wilson Jr. isn't consistent. Surely Lindsay would beat out at least two of these three, and possibly be the best running back in San Francisco next year.

Phillip Lindsay Patriots

The New England Patriots have been one of the busiest teams during free agency this year. With a ton of cap space, why should they stop now? The offense has improved after acquiring Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, but the Patriots' run game is still lacking.

The offense is loaded with running backs, but none of them really stand out as threats in the backfield. Phillip Lindsay would likely be the best running back on the roster, making him a great signing for this franchise. He'd enter the mix of running backs in the Patriots offense, but he has the talent and experience to take over as the main running back in New England's committee.
