The Detroit Pistons recently came to terms with free agent point guard Dwight Buycks, and will give him a chance to compete for a roster spot during training camp. The development was reported by Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders, but terms of the contract were not disclosed.

With the availability of Reggie Jackson for training camp still up in the air, the signing of Buycks can be considered as an insurance for the Pistons, and will give them more options at the one spot. His contract could most likely be a two-way deal, which will give the team a chance to send him to the G-League as they see fit.

The 28-year-old Marquette product last played for the Fuijan Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association last season, which is the team he also played for back in the 2015-16 campaign. He has had a journeyman career, bouncing around the NBA and the G-League as well. He has appeared in 16 games for the Toronto Raptors in 2013-14, and six games for the Los Angeles Lakers the year after.

His impressive play for the Dallas Mavericks squad in the Orlando Summer League early last month, paved the way for him to receive some interest from scouts, helping the Mavs capture the championship.
