In recent years, NBA players' heights have been a common topic of discussion. There are players that make believe they are taller than they actually are, like Draymond Green, or cases where a player is listed shorter than his true height, like Kevin Durant.
Add Andre Drummond to the list, as he apparently is shorter than his player profile says. The Pistons' All-Star center spoke to Matt Dollinger and Rohan Nadkarni from Sports Illustrated this past All-Star weekend and talked about his height. When asked if he was seven-feet tall, or 6-foot-11, Drummond responded surprisingly:
“I've been lied to my whole life. I'm not seven foot, I'm about 6'9″, 6'10”, around that area. It's fine, I really don't care if I'm not as tall as everyone says I am. I'm doing fine.”
His NBA profile has him listed at 6-foot-11, but as we saw with other players, not all listed heights are trustworthy. Drummond said he has been this tall since he was a sophomore in high school. He has always been good at basketball, but he also sees himself doing other things; probably even after he retires:
“As a kid and even to this day, I want to be an actor when I'm done playing. I work on music, too. So I've got the best of both worlds in entertainment. I just work on those things and then when I'm done playing I'll have something to fall back on.”
Looking at pictures of Drummond alongside fellow big men, he does appear to be a bit undersized. Look at the following image published by the Chicago Bulls' Twitter account before the All-Star Skills Challenge:
Even though the angle the picture was taken from does not favor him, Drummond looks way smaller than Joel Embiid and Lauri Markkanen. Both Markkanen and Embiid are listed as seven-footers, and Drummond appears to be nowhere near his listed 6-foot-11 height.
