The Detroit Pistons and Blake Griffin have agreed to a buyout, making the veteran power forward a free agent and ready to hit the open market, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Griffin's time with the Pistons was drawing to an end as the team went into full rebuild mode and already shipped out Derrick Rose. After being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers a few years back, Griffin is set to take his talents elsewhere with hopes of joining an NBA contender.

Griffin is averaging 12.3 points with 5.2 boards and 3.9 assists with the Pistons this season before sitting out while they worked on a solution regarding his future.

It's a far cry from his “Lob City” Clippers days, but Griffin should be able to play quality minutes as his offensive game is still half-decent.

The Clippers sent Griffin to Detroit for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, and a pair of draft picks and the Andre Drummond-Griffin pairing in Detroit had everybody buzzing.

As it turns out, that didn't work out as well as everybody had hoped and eventually, Drummond was sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jerami Grant has found success in his first season in Detroit after coming over from the Denver Nuggets and the Pistons are trying their best to rebuild quickly so they can be contenders in the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to see where Griffin ends up signing, and it's safe to say he can still contribute for most teams in this league. Unfortunately, his time with the Pistons has come to an end.
