Whether or not he ends up on the regular-season roster is dependent on his performance and the Pistons' needs. Tons of aspirants are under such deals. But Ball is special because the city is cheering him on. Well, the city or a possibly rabid fan.
So far, LiAngelo Ball seems to be doing good in training camp, earning praises from head coach Dwane Casey and teammate as well as undrafted forward Anthony Lamb. It's definitely not a guarantee that Ball will indeed make the roster. But it definitely means a lot to be praised by your head coach.
