The state of Michigan seems to have a bit of a conflict of interest on their hands. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Michigan Wolverines head basketball coach, John Beilein has interviewed for the head coaching job with the Detroit Pistons.

According to some NBA sources, the man in charge of the Wolverines has been coveted in NBA circles for a while, so it's interesting that he just now is deciding to take an interview looking to make that jump.

Beilein has twice led the Wolverines to the National title game, including this year, where they lost to the Villanova Wildcats.

Right now Beilein is under contract through the 2020-21 season, but earlier this month he said that he was in contract extension talks with the Wolverines.

There is a couple of things to look at here in terms of how much interest there actually is on both sides to make a deal done.

There is a chance Beilein could be doing this to try and hurry up the contract extension, or maybe he really is ready to make the jump from the college ranks into the NBA.

There is also a question about how much interest the Pistons have in Beilein, or if they are just making sure they do a full search before making their decision.  Beilein is the all-time leader in wins at Michigan, so there is no question that he can coach.

The Pistons are also expected to interview Dwane Casey and Juwan Howard from the Miami Heat.
