Through the first two weeks of the season, the Detroit Pistons have been one of the surprise teams sitting atop of the Eastern Conference standings with a 5-2 record.

Detroit has won the last three games topping the likes of the Minnesota Timberwolves, L.A. Clippers, and Golden State Warriors over that span. Despite that, there is still much doubt surrounding the team to which veteran guard Reggie Jackson voiced a strong response to the critics.

The Pistons have shown much fortitude to claw out wins over tough opponents in the early portion. A large chunk of this has been due to the improved play of veteran forward Tobias Harris, who is averaging a team-best 20.9 points per game. This includes scoring 25 or more points three times while also recording more than 30 points twice.

There had been much chatter around Detroit heading into this season as both Jackson and Andre Drummond had been consistently mentioned in trade rumors. Meanwhile, Jackson had begun to voice some disgruntlement about his role offensive through the first few games.

Although it's still quite early in the season, the strong start could bode well in helping the Pistons finally make a major playoff push in the East.
