Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 ankle sprain, per Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania. Jackson will be out for a minimum of six-to-eight weeks and will be re-evaluated thereafter.

Jackson suffered the sprain in the Pistons’ 107-83 win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday as he landed awkwardly on that right ankle. He had recorded a season-high 13 assists in just 21 minutes of action prior to the injury.

It’s another unfortunate injury blow for Jackson, who missed 30 games last year as he suffered from knee tendinosis. He had started all 33 games for the Pistons this season, averaging 14.6 points and 5.5 assists in 27 minutes per game.

But after a strong start to the season, Jackson's production took a significant dip in December, where he averaged 12.9 points on 41 percent shooting with 4.8 assists.

With Jackson once again sidelined for a significant amount of time, Ish Smith will likely take over the starting point guard spot for the Pistons. Smith is averaging 8.9 points and 3.9 assists in 20 minutes per game this season. He started 32 games in Jackson’s absence last year and put 12.3 points and 6.3 assists.

Langston Galloway should also see additional playing time off the bench to back up Smith. Galloway is averaging 6.8 points on 40 percent shooting in his first season in Detroit.
