The Pittsburgh Steelers had a disappointing 2018 season. They ended the season at 9-6-1 and finished 2nd in the AFC North Division.

They had a great offense and an average defense. They allowed 22.5 points per game, which ranked 16th overall in the league.

Overall, they suffered through a lot of toxic behavior. The culture in Pittsburgh desperately needs a reset. Trading receiver Antonio Brown will go a long way in fixing the culture. They need to bring in someone who can not only captain their defense but their team. C.J. Mosley would do that perfectly.

Mosley has been one of the most important players to the Baltimore Ravens’ success for a several eyars. The fifth-year player for the Ravens is the leader of the defense. He’s made four Pro Bowls.

He has had nine career interceptions along with six forced fumbles and 35 pass deflections. He’s had 90+ tackles every season, 100 tackles four plus times. His rookie season he eclipsed 150 tackles, something that only the league’s elite linebackers are able to accomplish. His 469 tackles since 2014 rank fourth in the NFL.

This upcoming offseason, According to Spotrac.com, Mosley’s projected market value is a five-year, $48 million deal with an average salary of $9.7 million. The linebacker’s current average salary is $2.1 million.

The 26-year-old will demand a heavy contract in free agency. Pittsburgh would be wise to use their $16 million in potential cap space on a superstar like Mosely.

The Steelers need to go out and acquire Mosley. His veteran leadership could be a game changer for the organization. He fits into the defensive scheme as he's played his entire career in the 4-3. His ability to play cover 2 and be the hovering middle linebacker or to swallow up running backs on the first level.

He would allow their defense to thrive and would bring in the necessary improvement to become an above-average defense. Even though he's not a huge sack getter, he can blitz from time to time and put pressure on the quarterback.

It will be intriguing to see how the Steelers attack this offseason. They'd be best served by acquiring Mosley in free agency.
