The Oakland Raiders have officially parted ways with head coach Jack Del Rio after his third season with the team came to an end this past weekend. The move prompted a lot of rumors about the seemingly inevitable arrival and the return of Jon Gruden, but the loss of Del Rio has taken its toll on star quarterback, Derek Carr.

The Fresno State product thrived under Del Rio last three season becoming a franchise quarterback and the face of the Raiders. Carr recently talked about what the loss of Del Rio means to him, via Raiders.com.

“It hurts. It is a sucky thing because we talked about it earlier this year. He is family. You spend so much time with him. I met with Coach Del Rio every Thursday morning since he has been here. We have spent time together at his events and we have created a bond. That’s a bond that will last forever. It hurts because something sucky happened to someone you care about. We weren’t good enough for him. We have to take our ownership as players.”

With the team having parted ways with Del Rio, the Raiders look to move in a different direction which could result in an overhaul of the coaching staff as well as some players coming and going during the NFL offseason.

Along with Del Rio being relieved of his coaching duties, Gruden, if hired by the team, will likely put together an entirely new coaching staff. Also, veteran wideout Michael Crabtree is rumored to be on his way out of Oakland.

Needless to say, sweeping changes are on the horizon with no telling exactly what the Raiders will look like next season.
