Aside from the New England Patriots, another AFC team in the Las Vegas Raiders were hit with the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic. An unnamed Raiders player recently tested positive for the virus, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.

Raiders defensive lineman Maurice Hurst Jr. was previously placed on the team's reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. He was the first player from the team to land on the list during the season proceedings. It still not known whether Hurst actually tested positive for the coronavirus or if he came in close contact with someone who was infected. Teams do not disclose the reason for placement on the list.

The news came a day after Raiders tight end Darren Waller, quarterback Derek Carr along with other players received fines for violating COVID-19 safety protocols while in attendance at a charity function. The event was apparently hosted by Waller's foundation in which the players were seen not wearing proper face protections.

Back in Week 2, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was fined $100,000 while the team was penalized with an additional $250,000 fine for failure to follow the league's mandated face-covering protocol during their game against the New Orleans Saints.

It is still not known whether the players' recent involvement at a function would play a role in a potential postponement of their Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The reigning Super Bowl champions already had their most recent game rescheduled after Patriots quarterback Cam Newton and their practice squad gunslinger in Jordan Ta'amu both tested positive for the virus.

The developments in the Raiders' camp following the reported positive case would certainly be a situation to keep an eye on.
