The Oakland Raiders have reportedly contacted the San Diego mayor's office about playing their 2019 home games in the city, according to Dan Sileo of 97.3 The Fan.

“I got this email last night,” said Sileo, noting it was from a somewhat well-known San Diego attorney who he would not name. He then read the email aloud: “I wanted to let you to know off the record here . . . that I learned tonight (this was last night) that there have been discussions between the Raiders playing next season in San Diego with both the Mayor’s office and management of the Raiders.”

The NFL reportedly would not want the Raiders to play a home game against the Los Angeles Chargers in San Diego. Instead, the game would be scheduled internationally in either London or Mexico City.

The Raiders have a few potential locations that they can play their home games before moving to Las Vegas in 2020, including AT&T Park in San Francisco or London. They could also stay in Oakland an additional season before leaving. The team had been in talks about renewing their contract in Oakland for 2019 before city officials sued the team over its planned move.

The Raiders continue to make headlines, with new head coach Jon Gruden most notably trading All Pro Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears and wide receiver Amari Copper to the Dallas Cowboys. The team won just four games in 2018 and have a ton of needs on the roster. Now, it seems they need to find a new place to play.
