After the Los Angeles Rams escaped their opening game with a win against the Dallas Cowboys, the team found themselves on the other side of the table this time around. Rams cornerback Darious Williams was called with a pass interference penalty on a fourth down in crunch time.

The call allowed the Bills to get a new set of downs from the 3-yard-line and Bills quarterback Josh Allen connected with tight end Tyler Kroft for the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left in the game.

Rams safety John Johnson called it the “wrong call” while wide receiver Robert Woods was also asked if he agreed with the whistle.

“No, obviously not,” the Rams wide receiver said, via Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com. “Being out there, he’s playing defensive back, he’s playing hands-on, he’s checking him, and as he gets into his route, the receiver initiates the contact and the quarterback is literally just throwing the ball in the area, and it wasn’t even a catchable ball. But, obviously, they made the call, it is what it is, you got to keep playing and finish the game.”

The Rams found themselves in a deep 28-3 early in the game. The team came out of the first half with a scoring outburst to catch up to their counterparts but still fell short on a 35-32 losing effort. The missed call was just a break of the game to which both teams must live with the results of the game.

Perhaps the Rams will look to have a strong start in their coming Week 4 matchup against the New York Giants for them to not be hurt by a wrong call late in the game and be able to control their own destinies at the end of the game.
